Thoughts from a mama of two adult children fighting cancer.

Hello!

So for weeks now I’ve been thinking about my blog that was actually started about three years ago. I think one post was made and that was it. Both Megan and Logan were fighting for their lives with cancer glaring in their faces.

Before I start I need to say what this blog is NOT- Its not a boasting sight. I may even at times have dates and scenarios incorrect due to the time passed and two adult kids who fought or fighting two different cancers. It may not even be about their journey and instead, everyday circumstances.

What this blog IS-It’s purely a mommas thoughts and reflections as I remember them and as I think about them on a regular basis. It’s me trying to remember and it’s about everyday happenings. Others may see these some of these experiences differently. I may even have times and dates incorrect. It’s been a very difficult 8 years.

Cancer isn’t a disease that affects one person. Its something we as a family team decided the first time the word was mentioned when Logan was told he had cancer. And again when we were told Megan had a brain tumor. We rallied around Logan to help him fight this. He knew he was loved and he knew he was going to beat this. He also knew hundreds from across the US and other parts of the world were praying for him. Logans faith was immensely strong. I know everyone in our family had strong faith…. never to waiver, never to be questioned. Was my faith to be tested beyond tested tho?

I was away with a retreat in Georgia when Logan called me. I stepped outside to talk to him. He was in some pain because he was passing a kidney stone. His first. I have had stage 3 CKD for many years and had passed stones so I knew he was hurting. We talked for sometime and I helped reassure him he’d be ok and that this too shall pass. He told me they were going to do more tests and pictures. When I got home later at the end of the weekend, his dad, myself, Katherine his wife and Logan at some point heard the news that at the hospital the said they saw something on the CT scan that was worrisome so the suggested he see a specialist. Later he followed up with more tests and it was quite the shock that he was told it appeared to be colon cancer….and stage II-III. From this point on, it really does get sorta hairy for me because Logan and Katherines life was definitely turned upside down. Ours really did go haywire too.

Word spread very fast.
